About Freedom West CDC

In response to the social and economic challenges that are confronting many communities in Northwest Oklahoma, the Freedom West Community Development Corporation was formed in 2002.  The Freedom West CDC was organized as a formal, non-profit community development entity and is governed by citizen representatives from each of its five service counties in Northwest Oklahoma.  These service counties include Alfalfa, Dewey, Harper, Woods and Woodward.

Northwest Oklahoma continues to experience difficulties with out-migration, job and industry loss, increasing rates of unemployment and economic dependency on the volatile industries of agriculture and energy.   Consequently, many communities have struggled to enjoy the quality of life that other regions of the country have experienced during the last two decades.  The Freedom West Community Development Corporation functions: to improve the availability of affordable housing, to create new tourism opportunities, and to assist its service communities through a variety of enhancement and revitalization efforts.

The Freedom West Community Development Corporation has an office in Freedom, Oklahoma and its numerous partnerships with other governmental and private entities can effect social and economic change in Northwest Oklahoma.
